Los Angeles · a barter community
This is a bulletin board for trading without money. It exists because Los Angeles is full of people with things to offer — creative skills, handmade objects, home-grown food, labor, time — and not always the cash to exchange for what they need.
The idea is simple: pin a card describing what you have. Someone who wants it gets in touch. You figure out what's fair together. No platform takes a cut, no algorithm decides what gets seen, no money changes hands. Ever.
The bartering is the fun part. A hand-turned stool for a portrait session. A bag of Meyer lemons for sourdough. An afternoon of music production for a cooking lesson. The trades don't have to be perfectly balanced — they just have to feel right to both people.
Cards are organized by category — creative services, physical labor, handcraft, and home-grown goods — but we don't optimize for easy navigation. The friction of browsing is part of it. You'll find things you weren't looking for.
This is a Los Angeles project. Cards are tagged by neighborhood because trades need to be possible in real life. If you're here, you're part of making it work.
